I read the debates over this exciting and almighty word of ‘Allah’ here in Malaysiakini with one side challenging the other on the exclusivity and each other's right of their argument. I would suppose both have their point of views and are right in their own way but I would like to pose some questions to all readers who challenge the right to use the word or otherwise.

1. If it is going to cause so much of hassle and debate, why don't we just use other existing words to refer to God. After all, God the Almighty knows what we are up to and we don't have to challenge each other to show Him that we are trying to do to prove His Greatness. This applies to both sides of the argument.

2. If the Almighty's follower is true to him and understands him well and the faith is steadfast, why worry about terms being used by other religious groups that may confuse you or may draw you away from Him?

3. If the religion is great, followers will come to Him to seek refuge willingly and not by force nor be coaxing in any way at all. Just like what Gautama Buddha said: ‘Go and try seek Truth in any way you like but follow what you think is right for mankind and what you believe is Truth.

4. Respect for or belief in a great religion is earned through its teachings and not through force. I do not believe that the parties who want to use the term ‘Allah’ have any intention to deceive anybody.

5. I see that the religious tolerance is not as it seems from the various arguments. Or is it that the politicians are stirring up the issue for fear of losing their relevance?

6. Imposing strict rules and tight controls on followers is telling me that I do not have the right for my self-assessment and I must just follow, more so the need to convert when marrying. I don't think great religions should have this kind of strict rules or maybe I do not understand them well enough.
